Day 17 Alice Springs

Today we started by looking at the Alice Springs Telegram Station, which had the old telegram station for Alice Springs. I even tapped out a morse-code message! Next, we visited the Alice Springs School of the Air. The School of the Air is a sort of online school for people who are in the remote areas of Australia. It has several schools in the country including Alice Springs. It was founded by John Flynn in 1964. Several famous people have visited the school, including The Wiggles, the Queen of Belgium and even several members of the Royal Family, including Princess Anne, King Charles and Princess Diana, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip. After we visited the School of the Air, we went to the Royal Flying Doctor Service Museum, which had a bunch of different things in there. There was even a full-scale plane! It was very small in the plane, because it looked like a private jet with a propellor and medical equipment. There was also VR headsets that showed it flying to someone in-need and another one of transporting a patient to Adelaide Hospital. In the next room, there was a timeline of old medical equipment and radios which grew more modern the further you went through. There was also a hologram video that explained the founding of the Royal Flying Doctor Service and how it grew. After that, we went back to Simpsons Gap to look at the Rock Wallabies at dusk. There was lots of them there and it all looked really good! Then, we had dinner and went to bed.
