Day 22 Mataranka – Katherine

We started off early in the morning at 8 am to go in the hot springs. We stayed in there for only an hour as we had to pack up the van. Once we got out of the hot springs, we started the pretty short 1-and-a-half-hour drive to Katherine. On the way, we saw heaps of termite mounds, and some of them were 15 feet tall! When we got there, we set up the van in the caravan park. The caravan park has a lot of palm trees in it, and it overlooks the Katherine River, so it looks good. The Katherine River has saltwater crocodiles in it, but they can’t get in the park because there are fences. After we set up the van, we drove into town and went shopping. While we were in Woolworths, we found a coconut on sale, and we bought it because I had never had a coconut before. We drilled two holes in the bottom of it to drain all the milk into a glass and then used a spoon to shovel out all the flesh. It tasted good, and after that, we walked down to the Katherine hot springs to have a look at them. They look pretty good, and they are only about 2 degrees colder than the Mataranka ones. After that, we had tacos for dinner and went to bed.
