Day 36 Litchfield
Today began when we drove to a place called the Lost City. The Lost City is a big cluster of massive rocks with about 20 minutes of 4wd to get to. When we got there, we did a short walk around and there were so many different things in the rocks. One rock had a massive split in it. After that, we went to Wangi Falls to eat lunch. After we ate lunch, we did a small walk through a tropical forest. The walk went up the mountain where the waterfall comes off but there were too many trees to see the water from the end of the walk. After we did the walk, we went swimming in the lake under the waterfall. It was pretty deep, and I went under the big waterfall which was super hard to swim to because there was a massive current pushing you away from the waterfall. I tried to go into it front on but it was too strong, so I went to the side of it to get there. Even though the current was much smaller on the sides, it was still exhausting to get there so after I went under the waterfall, I just floated away from it. On the rocks, there was 2 goannas that were sitting right next to the water. After we swam, we drove to an old tin mine. There were heaps of march flies around and they kept biting me, so it was a struggle to get there but we saw where they kept all their equipment and an old house where they stayed. The actual mine was a tiny hole in the rock where the miners would crawl through and be stuck in a really confined space all day. After the mine, we went past a massive fire that was around another waterfall and when we got there, you could still see small fires on branches that had fallen of the burnt down trees. After we got back to the van, we ate dinner and went to bed.
