Day 38 Litchfield – Victoria River
Today had a pretty long drive from Litchfield to Victoria River. It was about 5 hours and we had to backtrack all the way down to Katherine again and start driving west. We even passed the caravan park we stayed in while at Katherine. The drive was slow and boring, and we had lunch while refuelling because in the next caravan park, only the first people would get power and water and you would have to go unpowered if there were no spots left. While we were driving, we stopped by the Adelaide River war memorial which had a few stories about Australians in the war and it had a lot of graves. There was a really tall cross in the centre of the memorial grounds, which was cool. When we got to Victoria River, we managed to get a powered site. After we set up Mum Dad and Pa went on a hike that went up a big mountain. I didn’t go because it was 35 degrees, and I was feeling pretty lazy. I wish I did go, though, because apparently it had lots of rock climbing which I like and a really great view of the land around Victoria River from the top of the mountain. After they got back, we made dinner and then went to bed.
