Day 47 Broome
We began by driving out of the unpowered sites and went down to the new caravan park. Because it was so close, we got there at 10 and check in was at 12 so we had to drive into town. We drove to a place called Town Beach where there was previously a kilometre long jetty, but it was taken down and replaced with a 100-meter-long jetty. When we walked down there, someone caught a fish off the edge, and it was big enough to keep which was pretty good. The beach had super bright blue water and it looked really inviting. After that, we went back to our new caravan park and set up the van. When we set up the van, we went into town and looked at some of the pearl stores while Mum got her hair done. The prices were even more expensive than the market with some of the pearls being priced at $100,000. When mum got her hair done, we went down to Cable Beach to go on a camel ride. We got on them by climbing onto the back of a Toyota Hilux and then onto the camel. It was pretty cool to ride on them and they rocked you around a lot. The ride went on the outskirts of the beach and then turned toward the water to come back. It was fun and it had a really great outlook on the beach with the bright blue water. After the camel ride, we came back to the van until it was dark. When it got dark, we drove to an Astro tour which was a big space tour. When we got there, we sat on some stands and the tour guide talked about the stars while the sun went down. We saw Mercury for the first time because it is only out 3 weeks a year and goes away about 10 minutes after the sun sets. We looked at the telescopes and we saw Saturn. It was really cool, and you could even see the rings on it. We saw lots of galaxies and nebulae and it was good! There is this thing called the jewel box which is a lot of different colour stars in close proximity. There were colours like dark blue, light blue, green, white, orange and red. It was cool to look at all the stars as it was much darker in the desert so you could see more things in the sky. After that, we went back to the van and I went to bed without doing the website because it was pretty late.
