Day 53 Karajini

Today I woke up with a virus. I felt pretty bad, but we still went to Karajini to look at the gorges. The first part was a small walk to a lookout that had all the gorges going under it. The next thing we did was we went down a lot of stairs o the bottom of one of the gorges. We had to climb around on the sides of some rocks to get past a pool of water. Once we got past the water, we had to climb around a small stream of water going down into a swimming hole. It was pretty hard and one time I had to put my feet on the wall and shuffle along like that. After that, it got to a platform over the swimming hole. There was a rail going down a flat bit of rock and you had to hold onto the rail with both hands like a repelling cable. When we got to the bottom, we didn’t have our bathers on, so we didn’t swim in it. The water would have also been freezing cold and there were lots of signs saying be careful of hypothermia. The pool looked really nice and there was a small channel that kept going out the back of it. When we came back out of the gorge, we ate lunch in the car. After we ate lunch, we went to a category 5 walk. It started with a massive ladder going about 100 meters down into the gorge. We then had to climb over a lot of hard rocks to climb over. We then had to wade through knee deep water which was freezing cold. The stones were also super sharp and slippery. After we waded through the long water hole, we got to a point where you either had to climb over super slippery and super thin rocks or you had to swim through a long creek. I left my bathers in the car, but I still swam through in my clothes. It was freezing in the water, but you went numb after a while, so it was ok. We had to climb over some rocks that were really slippery because my feet were wet, and I had no shoes on. I had to go around a lot of rocks, and we went into a natural amphitheatre which was pretty cool. We had to go through a waterfall after that and it was really hard. You had to sort of crawl your way down it to the main pool. After that, I went into the main pool, and it was pretty good. Even though it was freezing it was fun to swim around in there. After I got out, it was hard to get back because I was shivering so much. After we got out of the gorge, we drove around to a few others, but we didn’t go down any. Then we came back to Tom Price, and we had dinner.
