Day 55 Karajini

We started by driving into Karajini to go to some gorge walks. It was about a 2-hour drive into Karajini Dales Gorge. It was on the harder side as we had to go over a lot of creeks with stepping stones that were completely dislodged. One time I accidentally got my shoe all wet because the rock that I was standing on flipped over. At the end there was a big waterfall called Fortescue Falls. It was a pretty big waterfall going into a pool. We had to go over some stones to get past the waterfall and on the side, there was this big wall covered in rainforest plants. It had lots of ferns and mosses on it and water was dripping through them everywhere. We then climbed up beside Fortescue Falls and went into a pool behind it called Fern Pool. It was the warmest pool in Karajini and it had a smaller waterfall going into it. We swam in there for a while, and I went under the waterfall which was pretty cool. After we went into Dales Gorge, we had lunch and drove through a dirt road to Joffre Falls. The falls go into a gorge that has water in it. The falls are dried up in the dry season though, so we couldn’t see it running. It wasn’t too hard to climb down there but we had to go down a really tall ladder. When we got there, we had to wade through about waist deep water to the pool under the waterfall. Because the falls weren’t running, the pool under it was very stagnant and you would probably get sick in there, so we didn’t swim in it. After we checked out Joffre Falls, we went back to the car and drove to the van. Tomorrow will be a 7-hour drive, but we are going to Coral Bay which is what I have been most excited about in this trip.
