Day 59 Coral Bay – Denham

We got up really early to pack up the van so we could leave by 7. The drive to Denham was 6 hours and we wanted to stop in Carnarvon for a few hours, so we had to get up early. It was about 2 and a half hours to Carnarvon and when we got there, we looked at all the fruit plantations. There were thousands of banana trees and a lot of them had big bunches of bananas growing on them. Apparently, they grow facing upwards as well instead of facing downwards. We stopped at a shop where we got a bunch of bananas and a few vegetables and then we kept driving through Carnarvon. In the next shop we went to, they were selling some pawpaw. I had never bought pawpaw before, so we got some. We also tried the bananas we ate, and they were really good. They were super fresh and sweet, and they were some of the best bananas I have had. The next place we stopped at, they sold lots of mangoes and I love mangoes, so we got so many mango things. We went over to the pier because there was a fish store. There were heaps of prawns and different fishes in there. We bought some gold band snapper fillets to eat later. After the fruit stores, we went to the Carnarvon Space Museum. It started with a bunch of different models of devices used by the astronauts and there was also a simulation of the moon landing. We went into a replica of the crew capsule in Apollo 11, and it played tv screens and vibrated the box as a simulation of the rocket. The next section had a lot more electronic things in it and there was a flight simulator kinda game where you had to land a space shuttle with a joystick and a model cockpit. There were also some super old space invader arcade machines in there which were fun to play. In the next place, there was a full-scale model of the moon lander that they used to touchdown. It looked pretty big and apparently half of it is still on the moon. After we went to the space museum, we had a mango with ice-cream desert thing while we drove away. When we got into Denham, we set up the van and then stayed there until we went to bed.
