This was the second day of staying in Coober Pedy. We went to the graveyard at around 10 and stayed there for a while as we looked around. We then went to the Black Blower sign to take a few photos before going to the Big Winch 360 Cafe where we ate lunch. I had a cheeseburger with chips, and it tasted really good, except that I had only had breakfast a couple hours before and it was a very filling meal. The cafe was on the top of a mountain that overlooked all of Coober Pedy so we could see the entire township. After we looked around the mountain a bit, we came back to the van to go noodling in the slag pits for opal. We drove there and dug a hole into the mountain with a shovel, then we dumped all the dirt from the hole into a sieve so we could empty all the dirt out and look at the rocks inside. If the sun shone on it and it sparkled it was possible to be an opal. You need to pick that rock up next and see if it either looks like opal or has colours in it. We did that for about an hour and a half, and we got 5 opals with 4 of them being colourless and 1 having colour in it. Then we came back to the van to wash them, and we ate dinner at Nana and Pa’s caravan. After that, we watched the new Transformers movie in the drive-in cinema and went to sleep.
