Day 60 Denham

We had another early start today and we left at 7 to go to Monkey Mia which is about 30 minutes away. We went there to go see the dolphin feeding which is pretty cool. We sat on some chairs while we waited for the dolphins to come in and they came at about 8:40. We watched them go around the beach and when we went onto a jetty, they swam under us and ate some small bait fish gathering near the pools. The park ranger went knee deep into the water and feed the dolphins some fish. One had a small calf that was swimming next to it which was pretty cute. After the feeding, they swam back into the ocean. We stayed there for about an hour, and we saw some dolphins come back into the shore, but they didn’t get fed so they left to go down the c0ast. We came back to the van and had lunch and then we went to Francois Peron Point. It was a long drive there and it was on very soft sand, so they told us to drop our tire pressure from 40 down to 18 which is really low. It took us a long time to drive into the point because we had to drive slowly to avoid being bogged on the sand. When we got to the point, we did a small boardwalk to a lookout going over the whole peninsula. You could see all the way down it and the water colour were super good as it was bright blue and then a dark colour in the back where it went into a grassy area. You can see animals like manta rays, dugongs, dolphins, turtles and sharks there. It took us a while to find anything, but the first thing we saw was a manta ray going through the water. I went to get the binoculars and while I was gone, a shark came by, and a dugong was sitting on the ocean floor. I saw the dugong through the water, and he even poked his nose out. I also saw a reef shark going over the rocks. There were a few dugongs and a lot of manta rays and eagle rays, but we didn’t see any turtles or dolphins. We then came back to the van and went to bed.
