Day 64 Kalbarri
We got up pretty early today to go to the pelican feeding. It was on the beach and some of the pelicans were really big! One of them was nearly as tall as me and they swallowed all of the fish whole. They chased each other around for the fish and they would always spread their wings out as intimidation, After the pelican feeding, we came back to the van and then left to the Kalbarri National Park. We went to a lookout that looked over the entire gorge and you could see the river winding in the bottom. The next place we went to was Natures Window. It was a short walk and climb over some rocks and then we got to a rock circle that was hollow in the middle. It looked like a window in the rock. There were also some goats on the other side. The next place we went to was the Kalbarri Skywalk. It was a big cantilever going over the gorge. The counterweight was a big concrete platform where a cafe is on which was nice. It’s pretty cool as there was no pillars holding it up and it was just suspended over the edge. The floor was also a grate so you could see through it into the bottom. We were really high up and you could go so far. The next place we went to was a class 4 walk which went down to the river. It was a pretty normal walk until we got to a ladder. When we went down it, we saw some wasps creating a hive and there were so many bunched up into a ball. There was also a really hard bit that had a ladder onto a flat rock on a 40-degree angle going onto another ladder. To make it worse, there was sand on it, so it was super slippery. The river looked good when we got down it, though. After the national park, we came back to the van and went to the beach and watched the sunset on it. The waves were massive, and we were standing on a rock when a big wave came and fully surrounded the base of the rock. After the beach, we came back to the van and went to bed.
