Day 81 Esperance

We started by driving off to a national park where there was a really tall mountain you can climb up called Frenchmans Peak. It had a small walk going up to it that went through the bush, and I nearly stepped on a lizard because I didn’t notice it. We started climbing up the rock and it had a lot of quartz in it. The rock was pretty grippy, but it was a really steep climb with it probably being more than a 40 degrees incline. We climbed up so high and when we got near the top, we saw lots of caves that went through the rock, and you could see all the way through one. There was also a wasp nest near the cave and there were heaps of them all bunched up. We went around the side of the top a bit and climbed all the way up to the peak. You could see so far from up there and the trees looked so tiny. We had climbed 270 meters from the bottom. You could see the ocean from the top and the water was so blue with really white sand next to it. We climbed down after that, and it wasn’t too bad. I saw lots of lizards on the way down as well. When we got on the bottom, we drove over to Lucky Bay. Lucky Bay has the whitest sand in Australia, and we stayed there to have lunch. The water was incredibly blue, and it had lots of seaweed on the beach. Apparently, Matthew Flinders had docked in the bay for 3 days while exploring Australia as well and he was the one who named it Lucky Bay. We came back to the van after that and stayed there for a while until we went into town to get ice-cream. We also looked at the jetty which had stairs going down to the sea level which was pretty cool. After that, we came back to the van and had dinner and went to bed.
