Day 9 Uluru

We started the day by waking up at 6:30 am to watch the sunrise at Uluru. Or at least Mum and Dad did. At about 4 am I decided I would be too tired to go so I didn’t. Anyway, I started off the day by driving to Uluru to do the Mala walk around a small part of the rock. We had an aboriginal guide with us, and we would stop at significant spots along the way, and he would tell us about them. The walk lasted around an hour and a half, and although it wasn’t really a walk as we only walked like 10 minutes of that time, we learnt a lot of things about the Aboriginal people and what they did at Uluru. After that, we came back to the van and had lunch before going to the Cultural Centre near Uluru. It told us all about how the Aboriginals did their day-to-day lives and then ended with a small square with Aboriginal made shops. There was some pretty cool stuff in the shops like their tools and weapons such as boomerangs and spears and in one shop, there was heaps of Aboriginal paintings and we even saw them making them in there! Then we came back to the van and relaxed for about an hour until 5 o’clock, when we drove to the sunset lookout at Uluru, and we saw the setting sun shine on the rock and make it bright red! I took a pretty cool photo of it for the cover and when you compare it to the other photo, I took it looks so much redder. Then we made Burrito Bowls for dinner and played Rummikub and then I went to bed.
